Main takeaways from the meeting: • INDRA gave a short overview of its activities and ongoing focus on the digital end of the service. It highlighted its very prominent position in the air traffic management and high ambition in the area of satellites. It emphasised its work on platforms of systems, combining digital, military and space. High appreciation of EDF which is instrumental against national protectionism and short term orientation in the decision making. The paradox combination of scarcity of talent particularly acute in the area of technologies and science and the high rate of unemployment, as well as the mismatch of skills are great challenges. With respect to the Action Plan on synergies, more efforts to communicate better at national level and to effectively support the SMEs are key factors for its success. • EVP Vestager highlighted the EU ambition in the area of cyber, as emphasised by the President in her State of the Union speech. She recalled the continuous efforts to look for synergies as part of the new drive in the area of defence. The engagement with the industry with respect to instruments like the Synergies Action Plan and the future Roadmap on security and defence technologies, is highly appreciated. She emphasised the importance of early promotion of education in the area of technology and science, as well as the focus on allowing clever ideas to grow, including by stimulating cooperation and risk sharing.
