What’s done at present?

° Profiling is used to divide applications in to
High/Medium/Low risk buckets

° High risk applicants get full checks (e.g. checks for
forgery), while low risk get fast-tracked through

° Profiles are usually created by a manual process:
— Often they’re out of date
— Ihey don’t draw on many data sources

— Visa officers may not even be able to check them due
to time pressure
