Airworthiness Directive
AD No.: 2015-0236
Issued: 16 December 2015
Note: This Airworthiness Directive (AD) is issued by EASA, acting in accordance with Regulation

ATA 53 – Fuselage – Cabin / Cargo Compartment Parts – Inspection / Replacement
[Wrong Material]
Manufacturer(s):
Airbus
Applicability:
Airbus A380-841, A380-842 and A380-861 aeroplanes, manufacturer serial numbers (MSN) 0030,
0035, 0036, 0039, 0042, 0044, 0046, 0048 to 0049 inclusive, 0052, 0054 to 0059 inclusive, 0061 to
0090 inclusive, 0092 to 0096 inclusive, 0098 to 0101 inclusive, 0103, 0105 to 0117 inclusive, 0119 to
0128 inclusive, 0130 to 0159 inclusive, 0161 to 0164 inclusive, and MSN 0166.
Reason:
Quality control involving final assembly line review identified that improper aluminium alloy was
used to manufacture several structural parts installed in cabin and cargo compartments.
This condition, if not detected and corrected, could reduce the structural integrity of the aeroplane.
To address this potential unsafe condition, Airbus issued Service Bulletin (SB) A380-53-8099 and SB
A380-53-8100 to provide instructions to identify the affected parts.

EASA AD No.: 2015-0236
For the reasons described above, this AD requires a one-time special detailed inspection (SDI) of
certain cabin and cargo compartment parts to identify the material they are made of and,
depending on findings, replacement with serviceable parts.
Required Action(s) and Compliance Time(s):
Required as indicated, unless accomplished previously:
(1) Before exceeding 6 years since the aeroplane date of manufacture, accomplish an SDI of the
cabin and cargo compartment parts identified as “Affected part numbers (P/N)” and listed in
Appendix 1 of this AD in accordance with the instructions of Airbus SB A380-53-8099 and/or SB
A380-53-8100, as applicable to aeroplane MSN defined in Appendix 2 of Airbus SB
A380-53-8099 and SB A380-53-8100.
Note: For the purpose of this AD, the date of manufacture is the date of transfer of title, which is
referenced in Airbus documentation at the time of first delivery to an operator.
(2) If, during the SDI, as required by paragraph (1) of this AD, a part manufactured from improper
material is detected, before exceeding 6 years since the aeroplane date of manufacture,
replace each affected part with a serviceable part identified as an “Acceptable Replacement
P/N” and listed in Appendix 1 of this AD, in accordance with the instructions of Airbus SB
A380-53-8099 and/or SB A380-53-8100, as applicable.
