Safeguarding Human Rights Is a Duty

Human rights violations cannot be ignored. If you see something, say something.

In October 2022, we brought the Frontex OLAF report to the public because we believe everyone, including all Frontex staff, should have the opportunity to read about the severity of its findings. Knowing one’s history is the first step towards preventing it from happening again.

The OLAF investigation reveals how illegal acts can be committed with impunity; all it takes is a report being ignored, an alert being brushed under the carpet, footage being disregarded… routine yet important documents systematically covered up, one by one.

Frontex management has said “These were practices of the past.” But only actions, not words, can guarantee this.

Protecting human rights is not an option – it’s an obligation. And with it comes the duty to raise one’s voice when witnessing wrongdoing.

Human rights violations cannot be “blatantly ignored”. If you see something, say something.
