Secretary-General Commission ofthe European Union Rue de la Loi 200 B-1049 Brussels Dear Secretary-General, | have been asked by my authorities to refer to your letters dated 25 and 28 July, 2000 (ref.SG(2000)D/105508 & SG(2000)D105509 respectively) regarding the following Complaints; - 94/2238 concerning the implementation of Directive 91/676/EEC a relating to the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources, - 90/5220 concerning Directive 76/464/EEC on pollution caused by certain dangerous substances discharged into the aquatic environment ofthe Community. My authorities advise me that substantive replies are being prepared in relation to these detailed and comprehensive complaints. However, information is still awaited from a number of the organisations involved and, as a Consequence, my authorities are unable to reply within the specified deadlines.
