First. – The data on the total of people that has arrived in an irregular manner to the coast and/or have been transferred to the ports after they have been rescued from the sea within Cadiz,Almeria, Granada, Murcia, Alicante, Illes Balears and Canary Islands during the year 2020. Such information will be cross referenced and verified with our own data. Second. – The segregated data by nationality, age and genre of the total of people that have reached in an irregular manner to the coast or that have been transferred to the rescue ports by Salvamento Marítimo, Guardia Civil and/or FRONTEX from the different mentioned provinces and CCAA. I am pleased to inform you that Frontex can grant you access to the documents, which are herewith attached. Kindly note concerning point 2 that the information as extracted in sheet 2 was based on the variables “Salvamento Marítimo” and “Guardia Civil” and is contained in the variable “Interception – asset authority”. However, information regarding the variables “Interception – asset authority” and “Interception by Frontex financed/deployed asset” cannot be disclosed as they refer to technical equipment deployed in the operational area of previous or currently ongoing operations. Disclosing such information would be tantamount to disclosing the exact type and capabilities of the deployed equipment as well as their usual position, which would open the way for abuse, as numbers and types of equipment used in previous operations are indicative of similar numbers in types for succeeding years. The result of releasing such information would benefit the smuggling, trafficking and other criminal networks that would change their modus operandi accordingly and result in hampering the course of ongoing and future similar operations, ultimately obstructing their purpose to counter and prevent cross-border crime and unauthorized border crossings. protection of the public interest as regards public security in the sense of Article 4(1) (a) first indent of Regulation (EC) No 1049/2001.
