Transparency unit staffing and budget

Dear Sir or Madam,

Under the right of access to documents in the EU treaties, as developed in Regulation 1049/2001, I am requesting documents which contain the following information:

For the years 2017, 2018 and 2019:

- any and all documents that contain the number of staff in your Transparency Unit (or the department dealing with access to EU documents requests) - this could be, for instance, organigrams or staffing plans that are specific to that unit;
- any and all documents containing the budget for your Transparency Unit (or the department dealing with access to EU documents requests); I would appreciate the most detailed version of this budget possible.

And for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018:

- any and all documents containing data on the handling of access to EU documents requests by this institution; I am looking specifically for broken down data, per year, on the number of initial access to documents applications received, and the number of confirmatory applications received.

Dear Ms. Izuzquiza, We apologise for reverting to you only now. Regarding the first part of your request, please note there is no dedicated "Transparency Unit" as such at the ECB. Instead, the responsibility for dealing with requests for access to ECB documents is one of the functions allocated to the Compliance and Governance Division (CGO) which is part of the Directorate General Secretariat. CGO staff members have varied responsibilities all aiming at supporting the ECB Executive Board and the ECB Chief Compliance and Governance Officer in protecting the integrity and reputation of the Bank, in promoting ethical standards of behaviour and in strengthening the Bank's accountability and transparency; accordingly their job profile and skill-set is rather divers with several of its staff having a legal background. Moreover, the Division is allocated a single budget for all of its tasks and objectives.
